Personal Learning Network
PLN #1:What is a PLN, what are the benefits (social, identity, cognitive, and affective) of having a PLN, and why do I need one?
A PLN, or professional learning network, is a great source for just about anything and anyone. PLNs are designed for creators, influencers, and business people alike to help seek and give advice. These days, it is easier to have a larger PLN due to how widespread the internet is. There are several different platforms that PLN’s can be utilized though. Some of these include facebook, twitter, instagram, and several other social media platforms. The popularity of these sites allows for a huge response from a wide audience that ranges all across the globe. A PLN can increase knowledge, create relationships that can increase success, and can help grow a business or activity if it is advertised to a large PLN audience.
PLN #2: Write a blog post that advocates for equitable access to educational technology, digital content, and/or learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of all students. In the post, share resources and/or ideas for increasing equity and access in digital technology.

I think that in technology-rich learning, it is unfortunate that it is more accessible to wealthier students and not all students have the same opportunities. I don’t think it is always fair in a technology ruled education system because if students do not have access to the same resources, they do not have the same opportunity for success. I think that as an educator, it is important to be mindful of each student and their resources/ home life. Equitable access is such an important aspect of Edtech. Although you may not know each individual student’s situation, you should act as if they all do not have the best of opportunity and resources at home because then, it will allow for every individual to succeed regardless of their home life. I think one thing that could be essential to ensuring success for not only the most privileged students is providing extra time and resources.
One thing I would do is offer my classroom before school, after school, and at different times throughout the day for students to get work done if they can’t at home. Another option would be to provide an alternate assignment that could be handed out and written so that there would be no worries about not having resources available to complete the assignment. One other option would be to have a list of places posted somewhere that have free wifi or other resources so that online learning may be completed as expected. I think an important point to make known in your classroom is that you are understanding and have the best interest of each one of your students. I think that this would make them feel more comfortable asking for additional help, resources, or alternatives.
