Network Learning Project

In Integrating Technology into Teaching, at the beginning of the semester we chose a skill that we wanted to learn. After choosing a skill, we created our own personal learning network to help us learn this new skill. Throughout the semester, we worked at learning the skill and recorded our progress. For my skill, I chose to learn how to play the song "Blackbird" by the Beatles. Here's my journey!

For this assignment, I've chosen to learn how to play "Blackbird" by the Beatles on my guitar. To help me learn this school,  I think I will be able to utilize Ultimate Guitar hero, youtube, and different facebook groups to help me learn this skill. Because I have 10 weeks, I feel like learning one song is a realistic goal!

So far, I have learned how to play the bar chords to the song “Blackbird” by the Beatles. The chord progression is very tricky and it’s across many frets so it was a lot more difficult than what I am used to. I’m still struggling with the picking rhythm of the song so for now, I am just practicing with a simple strum for each chord. I’ve used ultimate guitar tabs, youtube, and facebook to help learn the chords to the song.

I've made significant progress in my song! I can now play the whole thing pretty consecutively, but it is just slower than the beat of the real song. Now that I've gotten the chords and strumming down, I need to work on finger picking. A challenge throughout this has been finding time to sit down and work at this. It is time consuming to learn this skill, and I'm very with work, school, and my sorority, so I have to mindfully make time in my schedule for it.

FINAL BLOG POST: 12/8/21
Woohoo!!! I've done it! I've mastered playing "Blackbird" by the Beatles. It required a lot of hard work and at times got frustrating, but I'm proud of my progress and it will be a fun thing to show to my friends and family! Over the course of the semester, I've learned a lot about different uses.of social media and the internet to be able to learn and acquire a new skill. Personally, I was better able to navigate youtube and following different channels and such through this process. This project has shown me just how helpful outside resources can be when you create a network, and this is something I plan to take into my career, and personal life.  Click the button below to view my final presentation!
